A new exhibition, but above all a new cultural space in Paris!

The Grand Palais Immersif is opening inside part of the Bastille opera house, with two immersive exhibitions planned for every year, and the first gives you the opportunity to visit Venice like never before…

The Grand Palais may be closed for refurbishing, but it has never been so active! First of all a temporary exhibition space – the Grand Palais Ephémère – opened near the Eiffel Tower (and our hotels), and now autumn 2022 sees the opening of a new space with a new concept – Le Grand Palais Immersif.

HD projections seem to be all the rage at the moment, and this new ‘immersive’ exhibition space has been set up in a former ‘modular space’ housed behind the stage of the Opéra Bastille. The ‘museum’ is spread over two levels, and the first exhibition Venice Revealed looks very interesting, with animated CG graphics taken from 3D models of Venice allowing you to see inside buildings, travel through walls and visit buildings that no longer exist.

On a slightly less serious note, you’ll also be able to visit Venice as it was in 1481, through the video game Assassin’s Creed II and its detailed reconstitution – climb to the highest towers of the city, discover the wooden Rialto bridge, and slip unnoticed into a colourful masked ball!

The exhibition will also address the future of Venice, as it is submerged not only in a literal sense by the surrounding water, but also by the 30 million annual visitors. The city now has only 50,000 actual inhabitants – what does the future hold?

Linked with the exhibition there’s an inaugural conference by the people behind it, another conference called Venice and opera on 20th October, and free entrance for all on the evening of the White Night cultural event on 1st October, from 8pm until midnight.

A catalogue of the exhibition is also available – 160 pages, 175 illustrations, 30€ here at
